If we had a bottle of this,
we would pour three one, but grocery shopping was not one of our five this week.
But, these were!
We now pronounce us laminator and wife.
It was the cheapest wedding we’ve ever been in!
And by cheap, we mean free.
Well, almost.
We used our Scholastic Book Club bonus points to pay for our wedding.
We are soul mates.
Totally in love…
We will absolutely, completely, totally live happily ever after.

It’s our favorite read aloud for March and we’ve created our latest
Booktivities for the Common Core classroom to go along with the story,
Clever Tom and the Leprechaun.
We will feel oh so lucky when we sort facts and opinions next week.
Our kiddos need a lot of help sorting nouns, verbs and adjectives so we’ll give them vocabulary words from the story to sort.
We’ll also build words with the letters in leprechaun.
This is one of their favorite activities and gives us a great glimpse at their phonics and spelling abilities.
Lucky us!
And, those pesky leprechauns just can’t keep a sentence in order, so we’ll help them by working through our Sentence Scramble.

Yesterday, we took our class on a field trip to the local public library.
We adore our local library. This is just a peek at a portion of the Children’s Library, but it’s HUGE!
The Library treated us to an amazing field trip complete with storytelling, a craft and a tour of the front library.
When it came to Q & A time, what did our class ask?
“Can we go behind the scenes?”
As if they were Ryan Seacrest or something?!?
They wanted to see the Book Drop…from the “other” side.
We think the Librarian was outnumbered, so she complied.
It was the highlight of the trip.
And, we didn’t lose any fingers as those books and puppets came flying through the chute, so the trip was a total teacher success!
Does your class have a marble jar?
Ours is called a Gem Jar because, well, it has gems instead of marbles.
Were you hoping for a snazzier answer?
Each time our class is working together as a team, they are rewarded with a gem in their jar.
When they collect 50 gems, we vote on a class reward.
This time, they chose a hot cocoa party.
We just didn’t have the energy to do {this} today, but
we recently had a parent offer us a gently used Keurig.
We didn’t really need it, but it was a free Keurig.

We may have a slight problem with accepting free things.
This morning, we celebrated with a Hot Cocoa Keurig Party!
Disclaimer
NO children were harmed in this hot cocoa party process.
But, this activity should never, ever, ever be done without
full adult supervision.
So kids, just like the show Jackass…Do not try
this at home!
When we announced the plan to our class,
they were giddy with excitement.
“We get to touch a Keurig!”
Well, sort of…yes!
“Oh my gosh…I’ve always wished for this in my whole life.”
Really?
And here we thought we all wished for World Peace…
“At my house we call it a Keuramarig.”
And on that note, we made cocoa!
We had no idea how much touching a Keurig meant to them, but it does.
We kept things very organized and nobody but the teacher touched the hot cup.
We asked families to donate K-Cups, disposable to go hot cups with lids, whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles and napkins.
We called them up a few at a time and helped them brew their stew.
They put the K-Cup in, closed the chamber and placed their cup on the star.
There really is a star.
Keurigs are for Kids!
No, not really, but it has a star right where the cup goes and that is super kid friendly.
We then told them to take a step back and press the button.
Then, we stood between the machine and them.
Yes, yes…we would take a sizzling splatter for them.
The cocoa was piping hot, so we left them on our desks and went to lunch.
After lunch, we sipped cocoa as we worked through our centers.
It was like a real life work party!
And Finally…
