We’re not sure if it is the delirium of being together in our classroom with no children of our own for a whole 6 hours yesterday, the fact that UGH-ust is officially upon us, or our sheer excitement over participating in the TpT Magical Product Swap hosted by the adorable
Jessica Stanford over at
BUT,
we are going to do our product swap shindig a lil’ different this fine UGH-ust morning…
~ Laura Numeroff style ~
You know,
“If You Give a Mouse, Moose, Cat, Crab, Dog, Dude, Whomever
a
Cookie, Muffin, Crumb, Thumb, Whatever…”
{Yes, we feel your eyebrows raised ~ Rest assured, it is the delirium…}
If You Swap TpT Products…
If you swap TpT products with a teacher,
You’ll be SO excited when you are paired with
the sweet Sandra from
When you take a peek at her TpT Store
You’ll have a really hard time deciding which product to swap for.
Decisions…Decisions.
You’ll want them all, but decide
is perfect because it was on your Summer To Do List and now you don’t have to do it!! your students need graphing practice to meet the Common Cores.
Seeing the cover will remind you of our favorite childhood gum
And the sweet Sandra
And the SUH-WEET graphs that you don’t have to make yourself!
You’ll add the gum to your shopping list just to see if you’re too old it’s still around…
Looking at the beautiful unit you will think, “this unit definitely needs a binder”.
Hot Pink..Of course.
You will immediately notice the Common Core Standards on the front cover.
Sandra is sweet and smart!
You’ll anxiously print it out and find colorful descriptions for 4-5 graphs for each month of the school year.
You will also find data collection sheets for your class, which gets your brain spinning in all sorts of directions…
Once you’ve read through all the monthly graphs, you’ll try to pick out some favorites, but quickly realize
you-love-them-all.
Some that we will be doing this year are:
What is your favorite kind of apple?
In what season is your birthday?
What is your favorite drink at lunch?
and
What is your favorite recess activity?
Thinking of recess will remind you of back to school and you’ll remember that you’ll need to prep your class graphing chart for this awesome unit.
You’ll blow the dust off pull out this handy graphing pocket chart and realize it’s the perfect companion to Sandra’s
You’ll realize some of your friends might not have this pocket chart, so you’ll make a mental note to let them know any pocket chart can work for graphing. 🙂
You’ll cut up white index cards that you just grabbed for a penny at this week’s back to school sale down to
3″ x 4″ for each student in your class. Your new class will draw much better than you draw a picture of themselves and write their name on the card. You will laminate these and keep them all year as their “graphing cards”. Each time you complete one of Sandra’s monthly graphs, your kiddos will contribute to the class graph to compare the data.
You’ll also cut down any color paper for the bottom row of pockets and the title area
(we glued 2 strips of paper together for the top title pocket) and put them in your chart.
You will realize that half the joy of Sandra’s unit is the ease of it, and you know that it has to be easy or you probably won’t stick to it in class.
You grab a pen to write yourself a note.
Go back to Sandra’s store and find more easy stuff to do with our class.
Oops…you realize the pen you grabbed was a dry erase marker and you used it on paper.
Your teacher brain scolds ignites!
You use the dry erase marker on top of the pocket chart pocket to write the title of each graph and the labels for each category on the bottom row!
You are SO excited that you head over to Sandra’s blog to let her know!
When you’re there, you’ll notice her blog is sweet, smart, and has lots of great tips and things to share.
You keep browsing and notice that she graduated from Arizona State University.
You swallow. HARD.
You’re a University of Arizona Alum and realize that your sweet, sweet friend is now a total rival little different.
You reassure your Wilbur the Wildcat doll that everything.will.be.okay.
BEAR DOWN!!
And, yes we are still number one…
{{Hugs, Sandra}}
Thinking of the number one will remind you that you cannot wait to try the first graph in your new
