We are lucky!
We don’t mean “Take me to Vegas” lucky…That will be in July!
In March, we write reasons why we are lucky. We made Bubble Maps on our whiteboards with the labels,
I know…
I have…
I am…
I can…
Our lucky little leprechauns realize there are so many reasons they are lucky! So after a quick check of their whiteboards from us larger leprechauns, they are given their pot of gold and rainbow to quickly disappear into deep thought as they write and color their own reasons on their Lucky Rainbows.
Once they’ve colored the pot of gold and rainbow writing, they cut the pieces out.
We let them choose the background color that they want, and we have them add a few cotton ball clouds just for fun.
For our writers who can create their own sentences, we provide a blank rainbow template for writing like shown in the photos below.
We love reading why they are lucky, and it was quickly clear that their interpretations of lucky mean all sorts of things….We want to be this one’s sisters. Ahhh…
This one filled our pot of gold…
They are lucky because they know how to drive a truck AND they have a blankie!
That is quite a lucky streak, we think…
This makes a super quick, easy March bulletin board.

Looking for a few more March writing prompts? Our Sharing Page Program can be used in class too. We give one prompt each week during centers and make class books with them.
Along with our March writing, we love sharing the story
Clever Tom and the Leprechaun.
We read the story aloud at the beginning of the week. Sometimes we read it two or three times, or put it into our class Listening Center the week before just to be sure the students are really familiar with the story.
Then, we work on the Clever Tom and the Leprechaun Book Companion Activities that compliment the story.
They really bring the story to life for the kids and we can see not only deeper comprehension, but deeper connections with the story as well.
