Description
Get your kids “talking with their pencil” as they brainstorm, then write stories about their perfect picnic!
What do they see? What can they hear? What will they taste?
Use the Word Wall (page 3) to get student ideas flowing! This is just a partial list…Ask students to add more ideas orally as you record and model writing for them on chart paper or your own class board.
Use the Brainstorm worksheet (page 4) to create a list of ideas for each of the senses listed in the picnic baskets at the top of each column. To help students focus their ideas for writing, have them circle 1-2 ideas from each list that they would like to include in their final stories.
Use the blank My Perfect Picnic worksheet (page 5) to draw a detailed picture of your perfect picnic.
Mount the picture and story onto 12×18 construction paper (Portrait style). Use glue stick to adhere the picture to the top and staple the story pages to the bottom so they may be read by flipping the pages up from the bottom of the loose pages..
Great as a class bulletin board too!
