Nothing says loco quite like cocoa! It's amazing the work our class will do for the stuff! They are crazy for hot cocoa! We create this Loco for Cocoa bulletin board each year and leave it up past the holidays because, well, people drink hot cocoa in January too...And maybe even February...But, you didn't hear that from us. :) We spend the weeks leading up to winter break bringing a lot of special activities into our classroom, but our Hot Cocoa Party is one of our favorites. Mostly because ... VIEW POST

Holiday Class Book Exchange
Does your class exchange gifts at the holidays? The holidays are a great time of year to host a Class Book Exchange! Quickly after Thanksgiving in the classroom, we send home a request for each student to bring a book in to exchange for our class book exchange. Our guidelines for books are clear and we give plenty of time for families to find and wrap their books. We always have a few extra books on hand for any student who may not be able to provide their own. We allow them to choose the one ... VIEW POST

Five for Friday
We have linked up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five for Friday! Here's a quick look at our week... 1. We hung up our Directed Draw Snowmen from our "Snow-tastic Snowmen Unit". Love these guys. They crack us up how each one of them has their own personality (much like the artists). 2. We started our "Polar Unit" (since it's a chilly 50 degrees in Cali we figured it's pretty much like The Arctic)! 3. This next one needs some explaining... We were inspired by Teeny Tiny ... The World Didn’t End, So Teach About It We Must…
Well, we feel like we've given the Mayans and Nostradamus ample response time to end the world and so far they've got nothing! In the words of Tammy's 5 year old nephew...Phewf So, since the world is sticking around for hopefully another billion zillion years or so, we'll have to continue learning about it in class. Phewf... Which is actually a good thing. Not only that the world is sticking around... But, also because we adore teaching our class about Habitats! It's tough though... We ... VIEW POST
